Southland Golf Championships

Four children in our class got into the Southland Primary School Golf Championships in Drummond yesterday.
When we got to Drummond we had to get ouur photo taken.  We had to wait for a long time then it started.  We lined up and started playing the game.  On the first hole we played we took 2 shots to get on to the green and 1 put.
We didn't get a placing but we had a great day and won lots of cool raffle prizes.

Thanks a lot to Rebecca who took us and was our manager for the tournament.

NEW THINGS IN SCHOOL.

ln school this week they have built  a sighn to derect people to places around the school .They have also put up some posts for the out side class room. If you went the 75 Jublie you would have seen the statue.

Te Anau school is getting a new outdoor classroom it is going be between the office and room 5.

Stuff Around The School.

We have taken some pictures around the school to show you what all of the changes that have been going on over the last few weeks.

Vintage Museum

On Wednesday Rooms 5 and 2 went to the vintage museum.  We all thought it was awesome.  Here are some photos.  If you would like to hear more about our trip come to assembly this afternoon.

Room 5

Room 5  has  been  renovated  in  the  last  few  weeks.  We've  got  new  carpet, double  glased  windows, shades  and  snazzy  new  cupboards  that  turn  into  a  whiteboard  and  better  technology!

Kepler Birdsong Project

For the last few weeks we have been listening to bird calls then trying to identify them here are some of the bird calls we have identified.

Bellbird, Tui, Robin, Tom Tit, Fantail, Wood Pidgeon, Waxeye and Silver Eye.

Room Five's Visual Art

I decided to do a picture like Rita Angus because I like her form of detail.  And because it looks real.

For the last two weeks we have been drawing pictures similar to famous artists like Pablo Picasso, Rita Angus and Tracey Tawhiao because we have been studying art for our Masterpiece Unit.  We hope you enjoy our pictures.

Our New Classroom

Here are some photos of Room Five getting refurbished because it looks kind of shabby, compared to the other classrooms!!  We have moved into the hall and have settled in quite well.

Last Friday all of Te Anau School went to the hall and listened to a jazz band.  First we listened to them sing and play, then Lily, Millie, AJ and Jake got up and played the drums.  It was really fun.  They got a small crunchie....yum,yum.  For a while we listened to lots of cool instrumentts then a man sang us a song he wrote.  It was great!  It was sad to see it end but it was great because we are lwarning about the Masterpiece and it was a masterpiece.

Police dogs

This week on the 20th of June 2012 our school was lucky enough to get a visit from some police dogs.  The police men showed us some really cool tricks that their dogs could do.  There was a man volunteering to be bitten.  He was wearing a big red jacket that was full of padding.  He shot a fake gun and the dogs came running after him and they were biting him on the arm and dragging him on the ground.  We are lucky us kids didn't get bitten , we had a great afternoon with the police dogs.
